Helpline for people with money problems.
Aims: To offer support for people in debt or with money problems.
- Telephone helpline.
- We give expert advice over the telephone and via email and send callers in debt a self-help information pack free of charge. The service is free, confidential and independent.
- National Debtline can also assist callers who wish to deal with their debts through either a debt management plan (DMP) or a debt relief order (DRO).
Information and advice on debt, including:
- Credit card.
- Mortgage arrears.
- Council Tax.
- Business debt - for those who have ceased trading.
- Hire Purchase.
- Utility debts.
- Maximising income.
- Welfare Benefits.
Issues dealt with include:
- County Court.
- Refusal of credit.
- Bank charges.
- Housing and homelessness.
Cost: There is no service charge to the general public.
