Telephones for the Blind
Financial assistance with telephone installations for registered blind people.
Aims: To help blind people with the cost of installation and rental of their telephones.
Activities: Provides financial assistance towards the cost of telephone line installation and/or line rental for registered blind (not partially sighted) people of limited financial means.
It will not pay towards calls, nor will it pay for the telephone instrument.
Criteria for assistance:
- Registered blind.
- Live alone, or with a disabled partner.
- Unable to pay for the telephone from their own income or their family's income.
Registered blind living in own room in a Care Home may apply for assistance with installation charge and line rental.
Applications have to be made through a Social Worker on the Charity's Application Form, which requires endorsement by the sponsor.
