Sue Ryder Care are actively involved in developing local partnerships which aim to include disabled people in all aspects of life. They offer three specific community services which enable disabled clients to live the life they want.
- Stepping Out.
- Day Care.
- Day Activity.
Stepping Out Aims:
- Enable disabled people to have the life they want.
- Engage disabled people in ordinary leisure activities within the wider community which provide both health and social outcomes.
- Provide an alternative to day care.
- Promote inclusive leisure activities.
- Enable the client to take control of their own health and well being.
Day Care Aims:
To provide young disabled people with a purpose in their day and in their life based on their requests, interests and personal preference.
Day Care provision takes place in the drawing room of Hickleton Hall which has been specially refurbished to provide this service. The room is fully equipped to support many recreational activities, including, cooking, artwork, computer activities and many other handicrafts.

Day Activity Project Aims:
- To enable people who want to, to make changes in their lives.
- To promote social inclusion by helping individuals develop skills in community living.
- To use "what is out there" in the community to help people return to their every day life.
- To provide social rehabillitation programmes that have both health and social outcomes.
- To provide clear multi organisational pathways through the rehabilitation of people.

- By health therapists.
- From other voluntary organisations.
