Description:
A National Charity concerned with promoting social welfare in mining communities - offering information, advice and support to enhance quality of life.
Social Worker service provides advice and practical assistance to those experiencing problems of a social or personal nature.
The Social Worker team also administers various schemes of benefit unique to CISWO.
Coal Industry Benevolent Trust - provides financial assistance to widows of men who have died as a result of industrial accident or pneumoconiosis and also to individuals and families who may be experiencing financial hardship.
Other Schemes of benefit - Convalescent home, social centre (Pontefract), Financial assistance to children/adult dependents with Special Needs; Green Flag at subsidised cost to those on DLA Mobility elements etc.
Home visits and liaise with other agencies.
