Description:
Represents local societies for blind and partially sighted people across the UK.

Aims:
To promote the raising of standards of service provision to visually impaired people throughout the UK.

Activities:

  • Provides a forum for debate whereby members can examine issues relating to practice.
  • Articulates the corporate views of its members and assists and supports individual staff and committee members of member societies.
  • Seeks to encourage improvement in the quality and diversity of services provided by its member local societies. It does this by promoting their Core Services Standards that were constructed using the views of its members and with reference to best practice.

Membership:
'Sliding scale' membership fee depending on annual turnover/free reserves.
Membership is open to all voluntary organisations providing support and services for visually impaired people exclusively within the UK.
Members must be a registered charity.
