Eligibility: 'Third Agers', generally over 50's, no longer in full time employment.
Referral: Information sent on request or can just attend a meeting as a visitor, required to join after 2 visits.
Access: Meetings in various venues - Anyone with disabilities needs to contact Group Leader or Secretary. Wheelchair access available - not easy, needs requesting.
Transport: None
Cost: £10.00 yearly subscription, plus £0.50 - £1.00 per meeting.
Description:
An educational self-help group for those no longer in full time employment (generally over 50's, but no hard and fast rule).
A member of a national body, run by a charitable organisation, 'The Third Age Trust', with over 500 U3A's in the UK.
Aim is to enable members to share interests and enthusiasms and extend their education and skills within a friendly organisation.
Has a monthly general meeting on the third Tuesday of the month (except August) when they usually have a Speaker. Currently there are 23 groups who meet regularly. Most meetings are held at town centre venues.
