Aims:
To seek to enhance the quality of life for all deafblind people and to help them become as independent as possible.
Activities:
- Early diagnosis for babies, children and adults.
- Provides educational support for children and families.
- Provides information on deafblindness, advice and practical support.
- Assessing the needs of individual deafblind people in order to help identify appropriate services and support.
- Holidays for deafblind children and young people geared towards their needs and interests.
- A nationwide network of homes promoting supported living for deafblind adults.
- Groundbreaking employment schemes.
- Specialist staff providing one-to-one help to enable deafblind people to continue living independently.
- Support for local initiatives overseas by promoting training, advice and resources.
- Raises awareness of deafblindness and provides information on the main causes, such as Rubella and Usher Syndrome.
- Campaigns to ensure that legislation recognises the specific need of deafblind people.
