Aims:
To provide free, impartial information and advice on all issues connected with visual impairment to blind and partially sighted people, their families, friends and carers and professionals and service providers.
Activities:
- Information, advice and welfare rights service.
- Financial help.
- Mobile Information Service.
- Legal advice.
- Care homes for elderly people.
- Housing schemes for independent living.
- Sheltered workshops and training.
- Visual awareness training.
- Runs four hotels specifically for visually impaired people, their families and friends.
- Helps to create sporting opportunities for blind and partially sighted people.
- Your choice, an innovative initiative run by Action for Blind People, enables visually impaired people of all ages to enjoy the home environment of their choice.
- Increasing the number of Action for Blind People Teams across the UK which offer "full service" support to blind and partially sighted people.
- Improving employment opportunities for blind and partially sighted people via their Employment Teams, and Visage - the UK and European employment project led by Action.
- Opening more Actionnaires sports clubs for visually impaired children.
