Description:
Promotes the way in which IT can help people with disabilities.
Aims:
- To identify and promote ways in which computer technology can improve the quality of life of people with disabilities.
- To demonstrate to employers and the public that IT is a tool to enhance the quality of life for people with impairments.
- To present the IT interests for disabled people to Government and the computer industry.
- To encourage hardware and software producers to consider disabled people at product design stage.
- To identify shortfalls in the provision of services and equipment and initiate products to correct such situations.
Activities:
- Organises and contributes to national and international conferences and exhibitions.
Roadshows:
- Regular meetings are held for members and special meetings are arranged to bring together employers, IT suppliers, rehabilitation officers and Government representatives.
- IT can help (ITCH) which provides voluntary assistance in homes and daycentres.
