Description:
Practical support services and respite care for carers.

Aims:

  • To provide practical support for carers in England and Wales.
  • To promote, offer, support and deliver high quality services for carers and people with care needs.

Activities:
Relieve the stresses experienced by carers and children and adults who have care needs as a result of disability, illness or age by offering a respite service through the provision of community based support workers.
Schemes in most parts the country provide trained carer support workers to enable carers to take time off from their caring duties, and to give them time to be themselve.

Local Groups:
Over 200 schemes throughout England and Wales. Scotland operates a similar organisation - Crossroads Scotland.
