Description:
Supports people with Guillain-Barre Syndrome and their families.
Aims:
- To offer support and information to those affected by Guillain-Barre Syndrome, CIDP and other dysimmune neuropathies.
- To make contact with all diagnosed Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) patients and families.
- To distribute easily understood literature to both patients and their families and respond to any questions that may be unanswered by the group's publications.
- To raise awareness of GBS within the medical profession and the public domain.
- To invest in UK research projects aimed at finding the cause of this illness and improving the medical management of the GBS patient.
Activities:
- Provides emotional support to patients and families.
- Provides visits by former patients to those currently suffering, to offer comfort and support.
- Supplies literature about the illness and newsletters to members.
- Endeavours to educate the public and medical community about the support group and maintains their awareness of the illness.
- Encourages local branches nationwide.
