Description:
Action for Sick Children is the UK's leading healthcare charity, specially formed to ensure that sick children always receive the highest standard of care possible.

Aims:

• To campaign for quality health services for all sick children.
• To raise the awareness of the needs of sick children and their families.
• To give advice and support to the parents and carers.

Activities:

• National parent advice service.
• Information on the welfare of sick children for parents, professionals and others.
• Researches on child health issues, quality and standards.
• Campaigns on behalf of children and parents e.g. on hospital travel costs.
• Organises conferences.
• Maintain a resource centre on sick children's welfare.
• Focusing on national issues together with its network of branches, who also work locally to improve health services for children and young people, the charity acts as a consumer information base.
• Funds hospital facilities such as play programmes and parents' accommodation and sets up services to facilitate family visiting.
