Description:
Organisation representing the needs of profoundly deaf people

Aims:

• To protect and advance the interests of Deaf people
• To inform the hearing public about deafness
• To encourage positive attitudes towards Deaf people
• To campaign for equality of treatment, access and choice.

Activities:

• Encourages the development of new technologies and new legislation to positively affect the level and quality of access to goods, services, education, information, entertainment and justice.
• Runs nationals sign language week every year during October
• Develops an on-going support network through the Deaf Community
• Provides a counselling service
• Provides an advocacy service
• Provides youth and education services; courses for school leavers, adventure holidays and workshops
• Provides an information and telephone helpline service; open between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

Life Membership - £150.00
Organisations - £35.00
