Description:
Benefit Enquiry Line (BEL) is a helpline giving general advice and information about benefits to people with disabilities, carers or representatives.
BEL is part of the Department for Works and Pensions.
Aims:
To offer general advice and information about benefits and how to claim them.
Activities:
- Advice and information services.
- If requested, BEL sends out leaflets and claim packs in alternative formats available e.g. Large Print, Braille.
- BEL can help customers whose 1st language is not English.
- BEL sends out an extensive range of leaflets and claim forms.
- BEL offers to complete certain disability-related claim packs and for other disability-related claim forms not completed at BEL, BEL will take customer details and pass them on to another office.
- BEL do not have access to personal records.
- BEL do not process benefits.
Service Hours:
Weekdays: 8:30 am till 6:30pm.
Saturday: 9:00am till 1:00pm.
Cost:
Service is free although some mobile phones may be charged by their operator.
