Description:
The only national organisation for children and adults who stammer.

Aims:

• To initiate and support research into stammering.
• To identify and promote effective therapies.
• To offer support to all whose lives are affected by stammering.
• To promote awareness of stammering.

Aims:

• Runs a free advice and information service for people who stammer and their relatives throughout the UK, using regional directories of specialist speech therapy provision for stammerers.
• Operates a "Helping Stammering Pupils Project" for schools and teachers.
• Supports a network of local self-help groups.
• Organises conferences, workshops and open days.
• Promotes public awareness and advocates improved speech therapy provision.
• Operates a mail order service of books and tapes.
• Runs a postal lending library of books, tapes and videos.
• Runs schemes for telephone support.
• Liaises with national stuttering organisations in other countries.

Local self-help groups around the country.

Membership:
£5.00 concessionary per year.
£15.00 Standard membership per year.
