Description:
National patient organisation for people with haemophilia and related bleeding disorders.
Aims:
- To secure the best possible care, treatment and support for people with haemophilia and related bleeding disorders and their families.
- To work for people with haemophilia, von Willebrand's or a related bleeding disorder and their families.
Activities:
- Works with haemophilia centres to secure the best possible care, treatment and support for people with haemophilia.
- Helpline 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday.
- Provides information on haemophilia, related bleeding disorders and developments in treatment and care.
- Provides advice on: benefits entitlement, insurance problems, travel arrangements, treatment centres abroad and in the UK.
- Represents interests of haemophilia patients to Government.
- Supports research projects.
- Arranges exchange holidays and summer camps with special facilities for teenagers with haemophilia.
- Gives grants for certain welfare problems.
- Co-ordinates a home support service.
- Provides information, advice and support services and advocates and campaigns to secure the best possible care and treatment.
- Provides services for people with haemophilia affected by HIV and Hepatitis C.
