Description:
Self-help support and family help for young sufferers of Parkinson's Disease.
Younger Parkinson's Network is a subsidiary body within the Parkinson's Disease Society with the specific aim of representing all young onset people, families and carers.
Aims:
- To provide and foster mutual support to young people with Parkinson's Disease through communication and the provision of information.
- To establish a network for young people with Parkinson's Disease throughout the country.
To offer opportunities to:
- Raise awareness to the needs of individuals amongst organisations and professionals, and provide access to entitlements.
- Share information.
- Communicate with each other and offer support.
- Give advice to organisations as appropriate.
- Be more person centred.
- Provide a range of meaningful activities.
- Meet on a regular basis.
Activities:
- National Conference (approx. every two years).
- Campaigning and awareness raising.
- Library service of relevant publications.
- Aiding the formation of local groups.
- Telephone helpline Monday - Friday, 9:30 am - 9:00 pm, Saturday 9:30 am - 5:30 pm (except Bank Holidays)
