Description:
Undertakes research and campaigning in the field of AIDS & HIV.

Aims:

  • To improve HIV prevention efforts and the quality of life of people with HIV/AIDS.
  • To continue the AIDS awareness work of their late Patron, Diana, Princess of Wales.
  • To be an independent policy and campaigning voice on HIV and AIDS.

Activities:

  • Develops policies and campaigns to halt the spread of HIV and AIDS, and improve the quality of life of people affected by HIV, both in the UK and internationally aiming to prevent the spread of AIDS and HIV, and ensure people living with HIV have access to treatment and care, and eradicate HIV-related stigma and discrimination.
  • Influencing attitudes, behaviour and decisions that have an impact on the lives of people affected by, and at risk of HIV and AIDS. In order to do this effectively they:
    • Research current issues.
    • Identify solutions.
    • Inform and educate people.
    • Campaign for change.
    • Raise awareness through the media and events.
    • Work with other HIV organisations to represent the needs and views of all people affected by HIV and AIDS at a national level.
    • Provide advice and support on policy issues to the HIV sector to strengthen their campaigning voice.
    • Bring experts together from within and outside the HIV sector, to tackle issues and find solutions.
    • Maintain an independent voice based on thorough research.
    • Focus on long-term solutions as well as short-term needs.
    • Challenge complacency on HIV and AIDS at a political and individual level.
    • Put the rights of individuals at the centre of all their policies.
    • Bring people together through events such as World AIDS Day and the Diana, Princess of Wales Lecture on HIV and AIDS.
