Support group for families and those affected by rare chromosome disorders.
Aims:
- To act as a Family Support Group.
- To promote awareness of rare chromosome disorders.
- To set up support groups in each area.
- To raise funds in order to support the group.
- To produce literature in an effort to promote awareness.
- To promote awareness among the professional authorities.
- To help with research and co-ordinate the centralising of information.
Activities:
- Provides information and networking to anyone affected by rare chromosome disorders.
- Has links with groups throughout the world.
- Annual meeting.
- Password protected discussion forum on website.
- Have developed and maintain a comprehensive offline computerised database detailing the life-time effects of specific rare chromosomal disorders amongst their members.
Local Groups:
Many local groups and contacts have been formed throughout the UK (and even in a few other countries). Families affected by any rare chromosomal disorder can come together locally for gemeral support and friendship and to pass on information about services available in their neighbourhood.
Membership:
Membership is currently free.
