Description:
Counselling and support for young people with cardiac abnormalities.

Aims:

  • To raise awareness of Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS, SADS).
  • To work with cardiologists and family doctors to promote and protect the cardiac health of the young by establishing good practice and screening facilities devoted to significantly reducing the frequency of young sudden cardiac death throughout the UK.
  • To offer support to those who have suffered loss through a network of affected families, and counselling.

Activities:

  • Holds a bereavement Support day each year.
  • Provides medical information on request.
  • The setting up of an All Parliamentary Pressure Group to raise the profile of CRY with Parliamentarians.
  • Counsel and support families affected by sudden cardiac death.
  • Promotes national heart screening and ECG Testing Programmes.
  • Supports medical research into Sudden Cardiac Death.
  • Donates medical equipment to doctors' surgeries and hospitals.
  • Significantly contributing to medical research in Sudden Death Syndrome within the general population and top national/international athletes.
  • Funds the CRY Centre for Sports Cardiology at the British Olympic Medical Centre.
