Umbrella association of organisations concerned with deaf people.

Aims:
To support all activities of benefit to people with hearing loss in Wales with the object of enabling these people to lead fuller and more independent lives.

Activities:
The Council is an umbrella association of organisations both voluntary and statutory working in the field of hearing loss and representing people who are deaf, deafened, hard of hearing and deaf/blind.

Services offered are:

  • Volunteer development and support, group start up and continued support, information distribution, advice and advocacy.
  • Telephone helpline.
  • Training in deaf awareness and other deaf related issues (including courses on lip-reading).
  • Communication support, interpreter/lip-reading agency.
  • Advocacy, including benefits agency advice and SEN tribunal.
  • Campaigning.
  • Children and young people events and courses in personal development.
  • Exhibitions and publicity, (including equipment exhibitions).
