Description:
Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice Service is available to help children with life-limiting conditions together with their families from South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and part of North Lincolnshire.

Aims:

• To provide a 24hr/7 days a week service which is flexible, high-quality and child focused.
• To meet the needs of the children and families providing respite, palliative and terminal care within the hospice or community.
• To work alongside and in partnership with all the agencies involved with the children and families.

The medical and care staff will have expertise in symptom control for a wide range of disorders which will be managed either at the child's own home or at the hospice. The care team will be willing to help in emergency situations that can arise in families which will include the offer of practical and emotional support to families at home if this is something that they prefer. A sibling support group has been established with an e-mail helpline for brothers and sisters.

Support will be offered to the child as well as the whole family during the end of life phase of the child's condition. Funeral and on-going bereavement support for the whole family including siblings is a natural extension of care and would be extended for as long as the families need after their child has died.

Anybody can refer a child to Bluebell Wood, child, parent or professional from health, social care and education.
