Description:
The Agency's responsibilities are the issuing of driving licences, the registration and licensing of vehicles in Great Britain and the collection and enforcement of vehicle excise duty in the UK. The Agency also offers for sale attractive registration marks through the Sale of Marks scheme. Applicants for licences are under a legal obligation to declare a disability (either prescribed or prospective) in the appropriate section on the licence application form. A licence holder is similarly required by law to inform the DVLA forthwith if, during the currency of a licence, he/she becomes aware that he/she is suffering from a relevant or prospective disability, or if their disability becomes worse. Notification is required in writing and should advise the nature and extent of the disability. Failure to notify is an offence.
