To promote for the benefit of the public, the development of clinical and scientific knowledge about arthritis and related illnesses.

Activities:

• Advancement of knowledge and practice in the field of rheumatology.
• Improve awareness and understanding of arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions.
• Work at a national and local level to promote high quality standards of care for people with arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions.
• Lead the profession of rheumatology in the UK and ensure greater recognition for the society as the representative voice of the speciality.
• Promote partnership between the rheumatologists and patients, and work with other groups with an interest in rheumatology.
• Promote the advantages of membership of the society and maintain the highest standards of professionalism in its governance and management.
