Description:
Government benefit recovery service for those seeking compensation.

Aims:

• To issue Certificates of Recoverable Benefits within four weeks as required by law.
• To provide a friendly, efficient and economic benefit recovery service which meets legal and customer requirements.

Activities:
Compensation Recovery Unit (CRU) has two main areas of business:

Recovery of Benefits: CRU recovers certain Social Security benefits which were paid as a result of an accident, injury or disease for which compensation is awarded. CRU will send a Certificate of Recoverable Benefit, which details how much benefit has to be repaid, within 4 weeks of the date the certificate was requested.

Recovery of Health Services Charges: CRU recovers the charges incurred by Health Service hospitals for treatment provided following a Road Traffic Accident and pays it back to the relevant Health and Social Services Trust.
