The UK regulator of pension arrangements offered by employers.
The Pensions Regulator is the new regulatory body for work-based pension schemes in the UK, replacing Opra, the Occupational Pensions Regulatory Authority. They have wider powers and a new proactive and risk-focused approach to regulation.
Aims:
To get problems with pension schemes put right and to make sure that schemes follow the law.
Activities:
- Looks into reports that pension schemes have broken the law.
- Takes action where needed to put things right.
- Collects the levies which pay for pension protection.
- Works with others to raise standards.
