Description:
Provides information and support for people with Behcet's disease and for those who care for them. Provides financial aid in hardship caused by Behcet's disease. Encourages education, collaboration and networking in the medical and allied professions with an interest in Behcet's disease.
The Behcet's Syndrome Society was formed in 1983 by Judith Buckle (1950-1997).

Aims:

  • To provide a contact and support system for people with the syndrome and those who care for them.
  • To provide financial aid in cases of hardship caused by the syndrome.
  • To encourage education, collaboration and networking the medical and allied professions with an interest in Behcet's disease.
  • To promote and assist with research into Behcet's disease.
  • To promote the formation of patient support groups and awareness of this rare disease amongst the appropriate influencial institutions, authorities and decision-making bodies, and to provide them with detailed information about Behcet's disease.

Activities:

  • Information service.
  • Contact service providing contact between people with the syndrome or with specialist medical advisors.
  • One-off grants are made in cases where no other agency can help.
  • Support for UK and Republic of Ireland, sporadic support for the rest of the world.

Membership:
£10.00 per annum.
