Description:
The Back-Up Trust is a national charity that supports people, young or old, with spinal cord injury. Back-Up offers a great range of services for those with spinal cord injury and opportunities for able bodied volunteers to support their work.

Aims:

  • To support people, young or old, with spinal cord injury.
  • To encourage selfconfidence, independence and motivation following a traumatic life changing incident resulting in spinal cord injury.
  • To support friends, families and colleagues of all those who are affected by spinal cord injury.
  • To encourage integration and promote disability awareness and collaboration.
  • To give inpatients the skills and confidence to use their wheelchair across all terrains, including ramps, steps and kerbs.

Activities:

  • Back-Up offers a great range of services for those with spinal cord injury and opportunities for able bodied volunteers to support their work.
  • Back-Up's spinally injured volunteers run 3 hour sessions in the majority of spinal centres across the UK.
  • Back-Up Trust runs a range of courses for spinally injured participants and able bodied volunteer 'buddies' to experience a variety of different activities amid a social week.
