Description:
Promotes the recognition of children's rights.

Aims:
To promote the recognition of children and young people as individuals participating fully in all decisions which affect their lives.

Activities:

  • Information and advice service covering all aspects of law and policy affecting children and young people. The service is open to children, young people and anyone with concerns about them.
  • Carrying out a number of research projects, including anti-racism education, contact proceedings and the impact of armed conflict on children.
  • Education Legal Advocacy Unit which provides advice and representation to children and/or parents involved in education disputes with a school or a local education authority .
  • The centre actively promotes and campaigns for children's rights in accordance with the 1989 United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
  • The centre also provides legal opinions from qualified lawyers on request.
