Description:
Provider of oportunities for blind people to participate in sport.
Aims:
To encourage blind and partially sighted people of all ages to participate in sports and recreation.
Activities:
- Runs sports through committees staffed by blind and sighted volunteers. There are committees for archery, athletics, bowls, cricket, football, goalball, judo, swimming,
ten-pin bowling and martial arts.
- Holds National Championships for all BBS sporting disciplins.
- Holds National Schools Cahampionships for athletics, swimming, goalball and
five-a-side football.
- A knockout cricket competition is held during the summer, with the final stage of this at Lord's Cricket Ground.
- Holds 'Have a Go' days to encourage the blind and partially sighted to try sports available to them.
Membership:
Annual rates:
Full individual member - £20.00 (if paid after 1st May)
Full individual member - £10.00 (if paid between 1st March and 31st April).
Under 18 years of age - Free.
