Promote awareness and educate the public about organ and tissue donation for transplantation.

Aims:

• To reduce the number of people on the transplant waiting list, and so decrease the numbers who die every year whilst awaiting a transplant (over 400 every year).
• To promote awareness and educate the public about organ and tissue donation for transplantation.

Activities:

• Through their campaigns and positive stories about transplantation, support from local organisations and associated charities, Transplants in Mind encourage people to talk about their wish to donate and to sign up to the NHS Organ Donor Register.
• Funds research into ways of improving organ transplantation.
• Run a number of events (including National Transplant Week) throughout the year to promote donation and transplantation.
• Campaign and lobby on behalf of those awaiting organ transplants.
• Provide a central information service for members, public and press on information relating to organ and tissue donation for transplantation.
• Always looking for volunteers from all over the UK who are interested in promoting organ and tissue donation for transplantation.
