Description:
The UK's leading learning disability charity working with people with a learning disability and their families and carers.

Aims:

  • To represent the views and daily experience of people with a learning disability and their families.
  • To campaign for equal rights for children and adults with a learning disability by challenging discrimination and disadvantage, raising expectations and removing barriers to social inclusion.

Activities:

  • Working closely with local and national government and the media to promote the rights of people with a learning disability.
  • Directly improving the lives of people with learning disabilities throughout its services, which include residential, education and employment services, as well as leisure opportunities and individual support and advice.
  • Striving to achieve its vision of a world where all people with a learning disability have choice, opportunity and respect, with the support they need. It works to deliver change wherever these rights are compromised.
  • Fighting for equal rights; campaigning for greater opportunities; challenging attitudes and prejudice; and providing advice and support to meet people's needs throughout their lives.
