Eligibility: Anyone over 16 experiencing Mental Health problems, emotional distress or who is vulnerable to do so.
Referral:Self-referral or through GP's CMHT's etc., in Person or by Phone.
Access: Partial Wheelchair access at both Day Centres
Transport: Both centres convenient for public transport
Cost: Service are free, small cost for refreshments.

Aims:

  • To provide support and services to people vulnerable to, or experiencing mental ill-health or emotional distress.
  • To raise awareness of, and provide information about, Mental Health issues.
  • To campaign for improved services which better meet the needs of people experiencing mental ill-health.
  • Operate 2 day Centres.
  • Befriending scheme, Counselling Service, Supported Housing and Advice and Information.

Supported Housing
Mind has two houses which are converted into eight self-contained flats, and rented to people with mental health problems.
The primary aim of the project is to provide, support both practical and emotional for tenants who are working towards greater independence and optimal mental health.
The level of support is needs-led and individual packages of support are negotiated in partnership with each individual and reviewed on a monthly basis.
Social activities are arranged on a weekly basis to enable tenants to develop links and become involved in the wider community.
Although the tenants have assured tenancies most tenants express a desire in the long term to move on to independent accommodation. In this crucial move-on stage the project offers floating support on a weekly basis.
