Description:

The Health and social care charity Sue Ryder has two free befriending services in Doncaster:

  • one to provide respite for carers of those living with dementia.
  • the other for those over the age of 65 at risk of social isolation.

Befrienders are specially trained to:

  • provide companionship and conversation
  • support individuals to maintain hobbies and interests
  • assist to access local community
  • signpost to other services where appropriate

Volunteers Wanted

We are currently recruiting volunteer befrienders to support people through one to one home visits, telephone calls or a combination of both for a few hours a week.

Being a befriender is a rewarding role. Not only will volunteers play a vital role in supporting vulnerable people, but this volunteering opportunity will also help develop valuable skills that can improve job prospects as well as helping widen your social circle.

For more information on the befriending scheme, whether you want to volunteer or to receive support please contact Denise via the contact details above.
