Description:
ASC is a registered charity, which helps UK children and young people who stammer and their families. They achieve this primarily through the specialist expertise available at the Michael Palin Centre for Stammering Children in London and at the Stammering Support Centre in Leeds.

Aims:

To increase the availability of specialist help and support for children, young people and their families.
To increase the number of Speech and Language Therapists trained in how to work with children who stammer.
To fund and promote research into the effectiveness of therapy and the impact of stammering.

Activities:

ASC commissions services at the Michael Palin Centre for Stammering Children in London and at the Stammering Support Centre in Leeds. Examples of these special service are outlined below:

Consultation Service - this is an expert assessment and the cornerstone of any child's subsequent programme of therapy.
Individual Therapy - This is where an expert, specialist speech and language therapist works with a child or young person to help them overcome the challenges they face as a result of their stammer.
Intensive Programmes - for groups of children who stammer and are run in Leeds and London.
