Description:
The Foundation is one of the UK's leading grant makers and supports local, regional and national charities working at the heart of communities to tackle disadvantage across England and Wales.

Activities:
The Foundation supports small and medium 'underfunded' registered charities (12 months reserves or less).

The Foundation funds local or regional charities with an income of £1 million or under and national charities with an income of £5 million or under.

The Foundation funds work that helps disadvantaged people to play a fuller role in the community, particularly where that is achieved through:

• Improved social and community involvement.
• Improved life choices and chances.
• Helping people to be heard.

The Foundation supports both well established and new work across the voluntary sector.

The Foundation provides grants of up to three years appropriate to the charity's size.
Their strong local presence and knowledge means that they are always driven by the individual needs of local communities.

The Foundation is one of the few grant makers who fund core costs - day-to-day running expenses such as salaries and other overheads. Without this kind of help many smaller charities - offering vital support in their communities - would struggle to survive.
